South Bengal, including Kolkata, received light rains on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Although this has not affected the temperature much and the heat is intact.
In a statement issued by the Meteorological Department on Monday morning, it has been told that the minimum temperature in the capital Kolkata was recorded at 25.2 degree Celsius, which is one degree above normal. Apart from this, the maximum temperature is just 34.3 degree Celsius, which is normal.
Along with Kolkata, light rain has also occurred in Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, and other areas of South Bengal. The sky has been cloudy since Monday morning and it is expected to rain intermittently throughout the day. Due to this, a slight decrease in temperature can be recorded.
It is notable that the Meteorological Department had expressed apprehension that there may be severe heat at the end of March, but now the way the rains have started, the chances of immense heat come to an end.
